All in the family

Hi everyone!  I’m so excited to share today’s look, which I wore to a brunch my mom had recently here in NYC to celebrate a big birthday. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time catching up with friends and family.

dsc_8129I purchased this outfit over the summer, but waited until the brunch to debut it. Both the top and skirt are from Jonathan Simkhai. I immediately fell in love with the outfit when I stumbled upon it at Mitchell’s in Huntington Village, NY. I was drawn to the color and fabric.

dsc_8139What’s great about this outfit is that it looks great together, but you can also wear the pieces as separates. I can see myself wearing the top with jeans or dress pants for work, and the skirt will be great in the winter paired with a long-sleeve top or turtleneck, tights and boots. If you are not familiar with  Jonathan Simkhai, I recommend checking out the brand. It’s sold at places like Shopbop, Intermix, Saks and Bergdorf Goodman.

While I can certainly wear a bunch of different necklaces with this outfit, I did have one particular necklace in mind for the brunch…my grandmother’s pearls. I only wear the pearls on special occasions, and the brunch seemed like the perfect reason. How pretty is this clasp?! My mom had the clasp changed after the pearls were given to me, and I think it’s absolutely beautiful. Who doesn’t like a few diamonds 🙂

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Here are some pics from the birthday brunch…
